I work closely with each student to create a learning plan to fit the student’s needs. We talk about how the student learns best, as well what the student’s interests are. Each student is different and each student deserves to have their learning needs met by their teachers as appropriate for a private tutoring session. I love learning about new ways to teach, so just as I am teaching the student, the student is offering me new opportunities to learn about teaching! Below are my current services:
B Mitzvah Studies and Enrichment
Working with both synagogue-affiliated and unaffiliated families, I offer private one-on-one study practice in preparation for a student’s upcoming B mitzvah. If affiliated with a synagogue, I communicate with clergy to help students with synagogue requirements depending on the service and the students needs. If the family is unaffiliated, I work with both the family and the individual student to discover what they think is most important to them: Is it chanting Torah? Is it learning prayers and their meanings? Is it a deep discussion of torah stories? Is it taking a look at Jewish culture? Is it something else entirely? We will discuss and reevaluate as the student and I work through an individualized process.
Customized Jewish Enrichment
I provide a wide array of customized Jewish enrichment sessions for ages ranging from pre-K to sixth grade. I work with students and their families to discover what they think is most important to them: Is it learning prayers and their meanings? Is it engaging in Jewish holiday rituals? Is it a deep discussion of torah stories? Is it taking a look at Jewish artists and culture throughout history? Is it something else entirely? Whatever the topic, I create sessions that incorporate music, art, and theatre games to engage students in learning all about Judaism. We will establish a timeline for the individualized curriculum and discuss and reevaluate as the student and I work together.
Hebrew Phonics Tutoring
Using methods like aural and visual techniques, games, and music, I engage students of many ages in lessons that deliver quick Hebrew decoding results. You may be looking to follow along in prayer services, or want your children to have additional support for what they are working toward at hebrew/religious school, or you may be studying for your conversion ceremony. Whatever the reason, we devise a plan together that encompasses the student’s goals.
